In 1830, in the chapel of the Daughters of Charity at 140 rue du Bac in Paris, Our Lady appeared to a young novice, St Catherine Labouré, and asked her to have a medal struck bearing the prayer “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

The Miraculous Medal spread around the world. St Catherine’s incorrupt body lies in the chapel, near the chair on which Our Lady sat.
